London Buses route 162 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Beckenham Junction station and Eltham, it is operated by London General. ==History== Route 162 commenced operating on 12 March 1994, between Beckenham Junction and Petts Wood stations via Bromley and Chislehurst. It was initially operated by Kentish Bus. Upon being re-tendered, route 162 passed to Stagecoach London's Bromley garage on 27 September 1997. It was withdrawn between Chislehurst and Petts Wood on 17 March 2001. This was followed by an extension from Chislehurst to Eltham station on 20 October 2001. Upon being re-tendered, it passed to Arriva Kent Thameside's Dartford garage on 18 March 2006.〔(Bus tender results Route 162 ) Transport for London 29 July 2005〕 When next tendered it moved to Metrobus' Orpington garage on 19 March 2011.〔(Bus tender results Route 162 ) Transport for London 12 July 2010〕 On 1 June 2014, route 162 was included in the transfer of Metrobus's contracted Transport for London routes to fellow Go-Ahead Group subsidiary London General.
